The Lodge

A view from inside one of the rooms looking out into the bushImagine waking up to the warm glow of an African dawn, when the morning light through your glass fronted chalet brings grazing, playful herds of antelope and thirsty animals out for some morning refreshment. This is the Africa you will experience at Mooifontein Lodge.

The lodge is set in the Western section of the Madikwe Game Reserve  and is a private, bush retreat for the exclusive use of groups of up to 10 people, and is sold as a complete camp. It is an option for cost conscious groups wishing to visit the Madikwe Game Reserve wanting to enjoy this magical experience with a group of friends or family.

As the lodge is located deep in the heart of the reserve, it is surrounded by an electrified fence to ensure the safety of guests at all times. The main lodge houses the fully equipped central kitchen, indoor and outdoor dining area and lounge. In front of the main lodge, there is a relaxing shaded patio, overlooking the private waterhole where animals regularly come to drink. It is ideal for spotting game or birdwatching with drink or a pair of binoculars in hand and produces consistent memorable sightings giving up many untold secrets of the bush.

Swimming pool & Watering holeA refreshing swimming pool is situated alongside the patio, and is great for cooling off from those warm summer days. Evening presents the opportunity to prepare delicious meals in the open air “boma” as well as sitting around the fire enjoying the sounds of the African night discussing the days events.

A television is also available for those wanting to keep up to date with current affairs or sports. You will need to bring along your DSTV card  to activate your viewing there.
